Fourteen original lino-cuts by Nicholas Garland, with an Introduction by Lucian Freud

Artist and printmaker Nicholas Garland was for over forty years the political cartoonist for The Daily Telegraph. His fourteen original lino-cuts showing aspects of life in London’s most fashionable nightclub were the result of a private commission by Annabel’s owner Mark Birley. The linocuts are introduced by Annabel’s club member the late Lucian Freud OM.

275 sets plus 25 additional sets hors commerce, printed on velin Arches 300gsm mould-made paper 505mm x 380mm (20 inches x 15 inches). 14 lino-cuts printed in black, each numbered and signed by the artist. Plate 14 is hand watercoloured by the artist. The text hand set and printed in Fry’s Baskerville. Presented unbound in Solander box. Published by Mark Birley, London, 1985.

The edition was shown and made available only to the club’s members and friends.

A small number of Printer’s Proof boxed sets and some individual signed proof copies of the prints are available.
